Wedding Coming Up: The Perfect Packing Checklist

A wedding is rarely just a wedding. It’s often an entire weekend. Arriving the day before, brunch the next day, time spent with family or friends—sometimes even a few extra days of vacation.

And yet, when it comes time to pack, we focus almost exclusively on the outfit for the ceremony. The result: we think about the dress, the shoes, the jewelry... then we realize once we’re there that we’ve forgotten everything else.

Here’s a checklist to help you enjoy a wedding to the fullest, without stress or unpleasant surprises.

The outfit for the big day… obviously.

Let’s start with the obvious. Before you even think about accessories or additional clothing, make sure you’ve put together your main outfit in its entirety.

The dress or outfit you’ve chosen, the right shoes, jewelry, an evening bag—as well as undergarments and any hair accessories. A forgotten detail can sometimes become a real source of stress just a few hours before the ceremony.

Check the weekend weather forecast

Wedding photos often show bright sunshine, but the reality is sometimes different. An outdoor ceremony, a cocktail reception in a garden, a party that goes on into the night... Temperatures can vary greatly throughout the day.

A waterproof trench coat is often the best solution. Elegant and easy to pair with formal attire, it protects against the wind and any sudden showers without detracting from your look.

The Fudoon trench coat was actually designed with this type of situation in mind: chic enough to pair with formal attire, yet technical enough to withstand unpredictable weather.

Plan for a discreet solution against the rain

No one likes to think about rain when a wedding is approaching... yet a sudden downpour is always a possibility.

Slip on a Fudini in your suitcase takes up very little space and gives you peace of mind. This lightweight rain hood folds up into its pouch and is perfect for the trip from the hotel to the reception venue or an outdoor ceremony. Better to have it and not need it than the other way around!

Think about the time “outside the wedding”

This is often what people forget the most. The trip there, breakfast the next morning, a visit to the neighboring village, a post-wedding brunch… A wedding rarely lasts just a few hours.

Packing a comfortable outfit for more casual moments means you won’t have to spend the entire weekend in your formal dress.

The bag that makes the weekend easier

Between gifts, a change of clothes, extra shoes, and little purchases made during the trip, space runs out quickly. The Fudoon backpack is particularly useful in this situation. Lightweight, practical, and foldable when not in use, it lets you easily carry everything you need for a wedding weekend without having to bring multiple bags. A discreet but invaluable companion.

The essentials we often forget

It’s easy to think about rain when planning a wedding weekend, but we rarely think about the sun. Yet, between an outdoor ceremony, a cocktail reception in a garden, a photo shoot, or brunch the next day, it’s not uncommon to spend several hours outside. A lightweight sunhat is therefore a valuable ally.

The Fudoon sun hat protects your face and eyes from the sun while adding a casual touch that’s perfect for moments “off the ceremony.” Reversible and easy to slip into a suitcase or bag, it’s a natural fit for a summer wedding weekend. And if the weather ends up alternating between bright sunshine and light showers, its water-repellent fabric also helps you handle any stray raindrops that might crash the party.

Over the years, certain mistakes keep cropping up. The phone charger left on the nightstand, the power bank to capture photos of the evening, blister plasters, a small makeup bag with essentials for touch-ups… It’s often these little details that make all the difference!

Once your suitcase is packed, there’s one last essential: enjoying. Reunions, speeches, laughter, photos, and all those moments that make weddings memorable. A well-packed suitcase doesn’t guarantee a successful celebration. But it lets you enjoy every moment without having to worry about the rest.
